A total of 154 teams have been entered into the Badge competition for Season 2022.
Please see attached the preliminary grading for each Division. We entrust that you will pass these gradings on to your relevant team contacts.
Some things to note:
An influx of entries into high divisions within the Saturday Men’s Competition including:
Division 1 = 9 Teams
Division 2 = 13 Teams
Division 3 = 14 Teams
This made the top 3 divisions very competitive and as a result we have created additional divisions to accommodate the demand. Given the strength of the competition the majority of teams will be ranked lower than requested and compared to previous years so please take this into consideration should you wish to make an appeal.
The Saturday Ladies competition had a similar situation with (12) teams requesting Division 2. We have again created another division in 2022 and majority of teams will be in a lower division than what they originally nominated.
As a result of this release, any team that wishes to appeal their preliminary grading must do so through the Badge Delegate via the link provided here in accordance to Rule 9 – Grading Appeal. As per the rules (copied below) appeals must be received within 4 days of the release of preliminary grading. Please provide as much information about your team as possible including ratings and 2021 results.
Link to appeal
Please note the deadline for grading appeals is 5pm on Friday, 18th March 2022. No late appeals will be considered by the panel.
Currently Tennis NSW is having extensive email issues where we are unable to access the Sydney Badge email and are not receiving external emails into the NSW Leagues email. Please make sure that you are making your appeal via the above link to avoid missing out. Once the email issue has been resolved we will advise.
We look forward to another great competition in 2022.
Kind Regards.

ATP Statement On Decision To Ban Russian & Belarusian Players
/in Goss, News /by Goss EditorRussian and Belarusian players will continue to be allowed to compete at ATP events under neutral flag
We strongly condemn Russia’s reprehensible invasion of Ukraine and stand in solidarity with the millions of innocent people affected by the ongoing war.
Our sport is proud to operate on the fundamental principles of merit and fairness, where players compete as individuals to earn their place in tournaments based on the ATP Rankings. We believe that today’s unilateral decision by Wimbledon and the LTA to exclude players from Russia and Belarus from this year’s British grass-court swing is unfair and has the potential to set a damaging precedent for the game. Discrimination based on nationality also constitutes a violation of our agreement with Wimbledon that states that player entry is based solely on ATP Rankings. Any course of action in response to this decision will now be assessed in consultation with our Board and Member councils.
It is important to stress that players from Russia and Belarus will continue to be allowed to compete at ATP events under a neutral flag, a position that has until now been shared across professional tennis. In parallel, we will continue our joint humanitarian support for Ukraine under Tennis Plays for Peace.
